The main activities of the Ministry of Transport are:
- Defining, centralizing and implementing the government policy related to transport development (Surface Transport, Merchant Navy, Civil Aviation and Meteorology)
- Proposing qualitative and quantitative objectives as well as the programs and projects to be carried out within the framework of the development plan
- Participating in the development of any policy having a direct or indirect impact on the transport sector
- Promoting and organizing the transport sector and consolidating coordination between the various transport modes
- Distributing, following up and control investments in the sector
- Examining, researching and developing all means liable to facilitate the realization of objectives assigned to the transport system
- Researching optimization of transport means and controlling their productivity and service quality
